Dr. Kerry C. Prewitt, MD, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist and vascular specialist with over 30 years of distinguished experience in cardiovascular medicine, vascular medicine, and healthcare leadership. Dr. Prewitt specializes in coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and preventive cardiology with a focus on improving patient outcomes through innovative and compassionate approaches.

Dr. Prewitt earned a BA from the University of Virginia and his MD from Emory University School of Medicine. His postgraduate training includes an Internal Medicine Residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, a Cardiology Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Dr. Prewitt served at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, from 1991 to 1995. There, he held multiple leadership positions, including Director of the Coronary Care and Step-Down Units, Cardiac Transplant Service, and Cardiology Clinic; Co-Director of the Vascular Medicine Service; and Quality Improvement Coordinator for the Cardiology Service.

Dr. Prewitt has held faculty appointments, including Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Technologist Program at Howard County Community College, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and Instructor/Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

He holds certifications as a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Endovascular Medicine, as well as Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. He invented a guiding catheter exchange system developed by Cordis Corporation and has served on numerous committees, including as Chairman of Sentara's Interventional/Invasive Committee, Cardiac Clinical Effectiveness Committee, and others focused on quality improvement, critical care, and vascular education. Dr. Prewitt is an author of multiple peer-reviewed articles and has delivered invited presentations at national and regional conferences, including the American College of Physicians and Society for Cardiac Angiography.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, riding his bike, doing volunteer work and walking his two beagles with his wife.
